What this is

Video that performs. Not just video that exists.

A lot of brand video looks good on a showreel and does nothing in the wild. The product exists. The colours are right. The music is decent. And the watch-through rate tells you everything you need to know about whether it actually worked. I approach video production the same way I approach photography: starting with where the content ends up, what it needs to make the audience feel, and what action it's designed to drive.

Concept, direction, camera, edit. One creative across the whole thing. No briefing a director and then crossing your fingers that the editor understood the reference. When it's all the same person, the idea stays intact from the treatment document to the final cut. Commercial video and photography for sports brands and outdoor brands working in the UK.

What you get

Every format. Every platform.
One person accountable.

Brand Films

Long-form brand storytelling that gives an audience a reason to care. Founders, product philosophy, behind-the-craft. The kind of content that builds trust rather than just impressions.

Social & Campaign Content

Vertical and horizontal formats, platform-specific edits, cut-down versions from a single shoot. Content built for the feed, not repurposed from something that wasn't.

Product Launch Video

Hero launch content designed to lead a campaign, whether that's a 60-second film for the website or a teaser cut for pre-launch social. Shot and edited with the campaign architecture in mind.

Event & Race Coverage

Same-day or next-day social cuts, extended highlights, full event films. I've covered sportives, triathlons and brand activation days. Fast turnaround. One creative. On top of the brief.

Athlete & Founder Interviews

Scripted or conversational. In studio or on location. Athlete stories, founder profiles, customer testimonials. Edited for the platform, not just recorded and handed over as raw footage.

Edit, Grade & Delivery

Full offline edit, colour grade and audio mix. Delivered in the formats you need for the platforms you're on. No raw files with a note saying "just add music." Finished work, ready to use.

The creative framework

Five phases of every great brand story

Every piece of video content we produce follows a proven storytelling architecture. Not because storytelling is a buzzword, but because it's the difference between content that earns attention and content that disappears into the feed.

Video production director
The approach

Concept, direction, camera, edit. All the same person.

When the person who concepted the film is also the one who shoots it and cuts it, something useful happens: the decisions stay consistent. The visual language holds. The edit serves the idea rather than correcting for what the director missed on location.

Splitting those roles across a team makes sense when the budget demands it. For most brand video briefs, it adds friction, adds cost, and adds people interpreting someone else's creative vision rather than executing their own.

Platform-first video production
Platform-first thinking

Shot for where it's going. Not where it looked good on a monitor.

A 4K landscape edit is not a social cut. A long-form brand film is not a campaign ad. The way the audience encounters the content changes what the content needs to do, and that changes how it needs to be shot.

Before anything is scripted or storyboarded, I want to know the exact placement: website hero, Instagram Reel, YouTube pre-roll, paid social, trade show loop. Each one has different rules. I shoot with all of them in mind.

Sports brand video production
Who this is for

Global brands. Challenger startups. The standard doesn't change.

I've produced video for Trek Bicycle Corporation. I've worked with independent outdoor brands building their first content library. The brief changes. The creative standards don't.

If you're a sports brand, an outdoor brand, or an active lifestyle business that takes its visual identity seriously, this is built for you.

Stills, shot the same way the video is

Most photography briefs land alongside a video booking, often the same shoot day, same creative, same standard. A selection from recent work with Lidl-Trek, Project 21|12 and Marks & Spencer.

How it works

Brief to final file. Clear at every stage.

01Brief & concept

We start with a call. Objectives, audience, platforms, tone, existing brand language. I come back with a creative treatment, not a boilerplate treatment-shaped document.

02Pre-production

Shot lists, location recce, call sheets, talent briefing. The work that makes the shooting day run clean, all handled before we're on location.

03Production

One creative director behind the camera. Fast, responsive, and able to adapt when conditions change, which they always do. No junior operating your shoot.

04Edit & delivery

Offline assembly, grade, audio mix and title work. One round of structured feedback, then final delivery in agreed formats. Turnaround confirmed before we shoot.

Where I work

Based in Milton Keynes. On the road most weeks.

Fairford Studios is based in Milton Keynes and works regularly across Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire, Oxfordshire and Cambridgeshire. Shoots in Bedford, Northampton, Oxford, Bicester and Luton are a short drive and carry no travel charge.

Beyond that I work nationwide and across Europe. Recent projects have taken me the length of Britain from Land's End to John O'Groats, and across France from Barcelona to the Alps. If your shoot is further afield, travel is agreed upfront and built into the proposal rather than added afterwards.

Common questions

What most people ask before they brief in

What types of brand video do you produce?

Brand films, social content, product launches, event coverage, athlete profiles, founder interviews and paid ad creative. The common ground is commercial intent: everything is made to do a specific job for the brand. If you have a brief that doesn't fit neatly into a category, bring it to me and we'll work out whether it makes sense together.

How much does brand video production cost?

Scope varies significantly. I work from a proposal built around your specific brief, not a day rate with a long list of exclusions. Send me the brief and I'll come back with a clear, fixed-fee proposal within 48 hours.

Do you handle scripting and creative direction as well as filming?

Yes, and in most cases that's where the value is. I handle concept, scripting, storyboarding, direction, camera operation and edit. If you have an existing creative framework I'll work within it. If you don't, I'll build one with you.

What platforms do you produce video for?

Website hero video, Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, paid social (Meta, Google), trade show and event screens. When we scope a project, we agree the platform list upfront, so every deliverable is built for where it's actually going.

How long does video production take?

Timeline depends on scope. Turnaround is agreed as part of the proposal. Tell me about any fixed deadlines at the start and they'll be built into the scope.

Who actually operates the camera on shoot days?

I do. At Fairford Studios there is one creative: the person you brief is the person behind the camera and in the edit suite. When the director and operator are the same person, nothing gets lost in translation.

Do you film in Bedford, Northampton, Oxford and Cambridge as well as Milton Keynes?

Yes.

Can you produce video for events outside Milton Keynes?

Yes. Fairford Studios is based in Milton Keynes but operates nationwide across the UK and into Europe. Recent projects have covered Land's End to John O'Groats and Barcelona to the French Alps. Travel costs are agreed upfront and included in the project scope.

Do you shoot photography as well as video?

Yes. Most photography briefs come from the same brands booking video, often on the same shoot day. Recent examples include Lizzie Deignan and Lidl-Trek in Oxfordshire, Project 21|12's Tour de France challenge, and Marks & Spencer's Land's End to John O'Groats ride: see the gallery above. Mention it when you brief in and I'll scope both in together.

Currently taking new projects

Have a brief ready to go?

Tell me the project. I'll come back with a clear creative treatment and a fixed-fee proposal. No inflated day rates. No junior handoffs. One creative, accountable from first call to final file, for video and photography alike.
