Sports & Brand Photography
for Ambitious Outdoor Brands
One creative. One brief. Commercial photography built on eight years of working at pace with athletes, brands and race-day conditions.
Photography that knows what it's for
There's a difference between a photographer who turns up and shoots, and one who reads the campaign brief before they leave the house. I read the brief. I understand what the image needs to do: stop someone mid-scroll on an Instagram feed, anchor the hero section of a product launch page, or give a cycling brand a year's worth of usable content from a single two-day shoot.
Commercial sports photography and outdoor brand photography are specific disciplines. The light moves fast, athletes move faster, and the brief rarely survives first contact with the real world unchanged. Eight years of shooting in those conditions means I've learned to work with the chaos rather than against it — and still come home with the image.
Every shoot. Every format.
One person accountable.
Hero images, seasonal campaign assets and brand lifestyle photography designed to lead on web, social and print. Shot with the final placement in mind, not just the moment.
Event coverage, race-day content, athlete shoots and performance photography. Technically demanding conditions. Equipment and experience to match.
Product-in-use photography, road and trail environments, seasonal content libraries. Gravel, road, MTB — and the brands that build kit for the people riding them.
Clean product shots, texture and material detail, lifestyle context. Gear, apparel, equipment, nutrition. Studio or location. Consistent quality across an entire product range.
Brand ambassador profiles, athlete features, team and founder portraiture. Shots that say something about who the person is, not just what they look like against a clean backdrop.
Full professional edit. Web-optimised and print-resolution exports. Private gallery delivery within an agreed turnaround. Usage rights clear from the start.
Simple. Scoped. No surprises.
We start with a call. I want to understand the campaign, the brief, the platforms, the audience. Not just the shoot.
A clear proposal: what we're shooting, how long it takes, what you'll receive, what it costs. No vague day rates with undefined deliverables.
One creative. The whole day. Whatever the conditions. I work fast, read the light, and adapt without panicking when the brief shifts on location.
Full professional edit delivered to a private gallery. Web and print resolutions. Agreed turnaround. Usage rights confirmed upfront.
What most people ask before they book
My background is primarily in cycling, road and endurance sport, but my commercial work spans a wider range of active lifestyle and outdoor brand briefs. I've shot trail running, gym and fitness environments, watersports and adventure events. The common thread is brand context: the goal is always images that serve a campaign, not just document a moment.
Every shoot is scoped to the brief, so I work from a proposal rather than a standard day rate. That means you know exactly what you're paying for and what you'll receive. A focused product shoot costs less than a multi-day campaign with athlete talent and multiple locations. Request a quote and I'll send a clear proposal within 48 hours.
Yes. Fairford Studios is based in Milton Keynes but operates nationwide across the UK. Travel costs are agreed upfront and included in the scope. For the right brief I'm open to international work too.
Turnaround is agreed as part of the scope before we shoot. For most campaign shoots I work to a five to seven working day turnaround for the full edited gallery. If you have a launch deadline, tell me upfront and I'll plan post-production around it.
Usage rights are agreed upfront and laid out clearly in the project scope. Standard packages include full commercial usage rights across digital channels and print. Extended usage, exclusivity or third-party licensing is agreed before the shoot and priced accordingly.
That's built into how I work. I approach every shoot from a creative direction standpoint: shot lists, location scouting, art direction on the day, working with talent. If you want someone to help build the visual plan and then execute it, that's exactly what Fairford Studios does.
Yes, and it's often the most interesting work. An early-stage brand with a clear visual identity and an ambitious brief is a more rewarding shoot than a global brand with fifteen stakeholders. If you're a cycling, outdoor or active lifestyle business at an earlier stage, I'll help you think about what you actually need from a shoot.
